It's been a while since I've written anything for this website, and I thought it was time for an update.
To be clear, I've taken a break from my own personal projects and have been dedicating my time and energy to projects for others. I’m not going to lie, I’ve experienced writer's block at times, and I haven’t always had the energy to write. I’m still living in Southeast Asia, and although only a few things have changed, they have been significant. Another thing I’ve been doing is working on my master's degree. I also changed my major. Originally, I was pursuing a master's in producing, but for many reasons, I decided it wasn’t the right path for me. Somewhere along the way, my entire perspective changed, and I rediscovered my love for science.
Something I’ve never shared before is that when I first started college after high school, I wanted to become a surgeon. I began as a Biology major, but eventually changed directions and earned an associate’s degree in Medical Assisting while I figured out what I truly wanted to do. During that time, I also started writing more.
After earning my associate's degree, I returned to complete my bachelor's degree. I changed my major to Communication Studies with a concentration in Journalism and a minor in International Relations & Foreign Policy.
When I graduated, I thought producing was the career I wanted to pursue. However, I eventually realized that my bachelor's degree had already taught me many of the skills used in producing. I also came to the conclusion that journalism wasn’t going to be a long-term career for me. In my opinion, the field is oversaturated, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
As I began researching other career paths, my interest in the health field returned, but in a different way. That’s when I discovered public health, a field I honestly knew very little about before. I’ll share more about why I chose public health in a future post.
This chapter of my life has looked very different from what I originally imagined, but I am excited to see where this new path leads.
